After appearing on various certification and benchmark sites, the Vivo S19 series smartphones are finally going to see the daylight. There will be two phones, namely Vivo S19 and Vivo S19 Pro. Vivo S19 series launch date announcement

Vivo S19 series including the Vivo S19 and the Vivo S19 Pro will launch in China on May 30th at 7 PM CST (or 9:30 PM IST).

In the announcement video (shared via Weibo), we can see the rear side of a Vivo S19 series phone, presumably the Pro model. Here’s what the video shows:

We get to see the so-called “soft ring light” feature. The branding on the phone calls it ‘Aura Light OIS Portrait’. We have seen this feature before in other Vivo phones, namely the V-series. As the name suggests, it comes in handy while taking portraits, especially under underwhelming lighting conditions.

The product tagline is “Light of portrait, beauty comes from the east”.

Vivo S19 series camera features

When using the main camera, the Soft Ring Light feature will “evenly spread” soft warm light in the frame. The soft warm tones are considered ideal for portraits. And when using the telephoto lens, the ring light will light up distant objects. The OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation) will aid in stable clicks.
The Vivo S19 series is said to bring “synchronised focus change” for seamless autofocus functioning.
Vivo has also employed various AI algorithms to optimise portraits.
The company also points out the use of leading lines and shadows to add depth and contrast to the images.
It is confident about how the portraits could be better (on the Vivo S19 series) than its foreign competitors.

Vivo S19 Pro specifications (expected)

Cameras: On its back, there could be a 50MP (Sony IMX921) main camera with OIS, coupled with a 50MP 50x digital zoom telephoto camera, and an 8MP ultrawide snapper. The front camera could also be a 50MP sensor.
Display: Vivo S19 Pro could sport a 6.78-inch 1.5K curved-OLED screen.
Processor: Inside the device could carry a MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ SoC.
Memory: It could ship with up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 512GB storage.
Battery: Under the hood, there could be a 5,500mAh battery. This could be paired with 80W wired charging support.

There are some similarities between it and the Vivo S18 Pro. It appears to have the same chipset, wired charging speed, and memory configuration. However, it could bring a bigger battery, the Sony IMX921 sensor for the first time in the industry, among other things. We expect to gain more details in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the vanilla Vivo S19 could ship with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC, a 6,000mAh battery, and Android 14.
