4 reasons to buy and 2 reasons to skip Vivo V30 Pro

Vivo V30 Pro is the new mid-range flagship from the brand, and it arrives as a follow-up to the popular Vivo V29 Pro. It is also the first V-series offering Zeiss optics, which were earlier limited to the flagship X-lineup. With this big inclusion, Vivo is betting big on the V30 Pro cameras. The handset comes with 50MP cameras both on the front and back.

We reviewed the Vivo V30 Pro recently, and in this article, we tell you why you should buy the phone, and why you should skip it.

4 reasons to buy Vivo V30 Pro

Impressive 50MP front camera

The Vivo V30 Pro features a 50MP autofocus front camera with f/2.0 aperture and dual soft LED flash. Numbers aside, the selfie shooter was able to capture accurate skin tones in different lighting conditions, including low light. This makes the Vivo V30 Pro a good choice for camera enthusiasts.

It also makes the Vivo V30 Pro the best selfie camera on a phone in this price segment. There is also 2x zoom on the front, which brings versatility for various situations. To further enhance the selfie camera experience, Vivo also included 4K video recording at 60fps.

Great Display

Vivo V30 Pro review

The Vivo V30 Pro sports a 6.78-inch 1.5K curved AMOLED display with 2800×1260 pixels resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio screen, HDR10+, 120Hz refresh rate, 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut, and up to 2800 nits peak brightness.

Our review notes the Vivo V30 Pro’s display is quite impressive, be it for gaming or media consumption through OTT apps. The 120Hz refresh rate and curved edges make the transitions smooth and seamless. In addition to this, there are no lags or stutters throughout the UI. Netflix supports HDR playback, which definitely comes in handy. The only downside is the lack of stereo speakers, which is evident when watching content through loudspeakers.

80W fast charging

The Vivo V30 Pro packs a 5000mAh battery with 80W fast charging support. This is claimed to juice up the phone up to 57 percent in just 30 minutes, with a full charge taking just 45 minutes. These speeds are incredibly fast and come as an added bonus when you are on the go.

The bundled 5000mAh battery can last an entire day even with moderate usage. You can extend this further by disabling Always-on-Display. In the PCMark battery test, the phone managed to score 16 hours with 50 percent brightness and flight mode enabled. This is a respectable figure.

Smart Aura Ring Light

The Vivo V30 Pro comes with a Smart Aura Ring Light below the camera module. This is super versatile in low-light environments, and will also vastly help with focus on the subjects. It’s also definitely a better inclusion compared to the usual LED flash module on most smartphones.

2 reasons to not buy Vivo V30 Pro

No stereo speakers

Vivo V30 Pro review

The lack of stereo speakers, as said in the display section, is a big disappointment. This will totally bring down the media-watching or gaming experience, which otherwise is quite impressive thanks to the immersive display. The single speaker is loud but the lack of two-way speakers is quite evident.

The Vivo V30 Pro offers 3D sound with wireless headphones but at this price point, stereo speakers should be a standard feature.

Just IP54 rating

At a starting price of Rs 41,999, the Vivo V30 Pro just comes with an IP54 rating. This again is a big drawback since most budget phones these days offer the same level of protection. The IP54 rating only offers the bare minimum protection against water and dust. Vivo should have at least added IP67, if not the new IP68 rating.

The much cheaper Redmi Note 13 Pro+ features an IP68 rating, which is much superior to the IP54 standard.
