The Vivo V50 was launched in India this February as a premium mid-range phone, starting at Rs 34,999. Now, five months later, its successor, the Vivo V60, is teased to arrive in the country soon. This is part of Vivo’s premium mid-range series known for its sleek, slim design and capable cameras powered by Zeiss. Staying true to its identity, Vivo claims that the V60 will be the slimmest phone in its segment to feature a 6,500mAh battery. The teaser reveals a new vertical camera design, similar to the recently launched X200 FE.
Vivo’s teaser on its official website showcases the Vivo V60 featuring a slim and sleek design with a quad-curved display. Vivo also claims the phone will feel comfortable in the hand even after hours of use. Overall, the upcoming V60 looks quite similar to the Vivo V50, with the main differences being in the camera design and colour options. The V60 features vertically aligned cameras, similar to those on the X200 FE, unlike the circular module seen on its predecessor. The Aura ring light is still part of the design, now positioned on the right side of the camera module.
Like the V50, the Vivo V60 will feature Zeiss-branded cameras and support 100x digital zoom. While full specs have yet to be confirmed, we’ll have to wait and see if any upgrades are forthcoming. For reference, the Vivo V50 offered a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 50MP front camera.
What upgrades would we like to see?
Not much has been revealed about the Vivo V60 yet, but more details are expected to surface soon. Vivo typically refreshes its V-series every five to six months, so significant changes aren’t likely. However, some upgrades are possible, especially to the ultra-wide camera, which struggled with details on the Vivo V50 compared to rivals like the OnePlus 13R, despite delivering contrast-rich images.
Another expected upgrade is the chipset. Both the V50 and V40 utilised the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, a solid yet ageing mid-range SoC. Repeating it a third time may disappoint some buyers, especially when rivals like the POCO F7 and iQOO Neo 10 offer the newer Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 under Rs 40,000. While the V-series isn’t performance-focused, a faster chip in the Vivo V60 feels like a reasonable ask.
The Vivo V50 delivered solid upgrades in battery, design, software, and cameras. We expect the V60 to bring more meaningful changes. We’ll be keeping a close eye on the full spec reveal and pricing to see whether the Vivo V60 can justify its place in the sub-Rs 40,000 segment.
