The VLC Media Player has been banned by the Indian government on suspicion of a Chinese-backed hacking attack.

No matter what codec the content was encoded in, it has long been known as the tool for playing videos, movies, shows, etc. The tool created by the VideoLAN Project, according to a recent report, has allegedly been banned in India. The ban reportedly came into effect early this year. However, neither VideoLAN nor the Indian authorities provided any information on the ban.
