Update: Xiaomi has confirmed the phones will launch simultaneously in India, on the same date, February 28th at 6.30 pm IST.
Xiaomi has confirmed that the Xiaomi 17 series will launch globally on February 28th in Barcelona, ahead of the Mobile World Congress. The teaser image shows the Xiaomi 17 Ultra (overview) in a Starry Green finish, indicating that the Ultra and the standard Xiaomi 17 will be part of the global rollout. The Pro and Pro Max models launched in China in September 2025 are not expected to arrive in global markets.
The event is titled ‘The New Wave of Imagery’ and continues Xiaomi’s partnership with Leica, now in its fourth year. The focus on imaging puts the Xiaomi 17 series in direct competition with Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series, which coincidentally launches only three days before.
Separately, Xiaomi India has teased the Xiaomi Pad 8, suggesting that additional product announcements could follow in key markets. Xiaomi India posted another tweet indicating a “big announcement” is just moments away. We speculate they’ll announce more details about the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra’s India launch, and we’ll update you when that happens.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra will lead the lineup. It features a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED display with peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits and Dragon Crystal Glass protection. It runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. The camera system includes a 50MP 1-inch main sensor with variable aperture, a 200MP periscope telephoto lens with continuous optical zoom between 75mm and 100mm, and a 50MP ultrawide camera with macro support. A 50MP front camera with 4K video is also there. The global variant may include a 6,000mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging, along with IP68 and IP69 ratings.
The standard Xiaomi 17 offers similar flagship performance in a smaller body. It features a 6.3-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. The Leica-branded triple 50MP camera setup covers main, telephoto, and ultrawide shooting. The global version is tipped to include a 6,330mAh silicon-carbon battery with 100W wired charging.
Leaked European pricing suggests the Xiaomi 17 could start at EUR 999, while the Xiaomi 17 Ultra may begin at EUR 1,499. At these prices, Xiaomi positions the series slightly below some ultra-premium rivals while highlighting camera hardware and battery capacity. Buyers focussed on photography and zoom capabilities may find the Ultra appealing, while those who prefer a smaller phone without giving up flagship performance may consider the standard model.
Xiaomi is also offering added service benefits in Europe, including a 24-month quality assurance plan, one free screen replacement within six months, and free labour for out-of-warranty repairs during the warranty period. Such perks reflect a growing trend among smartphone brands to compete on after-sales support as well as hardware.
