Xiaomi Mi TV 8K teased to launch on September 24th

“This is the first Xiaomi TV that will boast an 8K resolution display”

Xiaomi is expected to launch a new Mi TV on September 24th where a host of other Xiaomi products including the Mi MIX 4 5G will also be unveiled. This Mi TV is not just any routine TV. It is, in fact, the company’s first 8K TV that will be hitting the Chinese market soon. The company has confirmed this in an official teaser today and also shared some promotional material of the product on social media. This comes after the company recently announced its new 4K TV lineup in India along with a top-end 65-inch model as well as some new categories such as the Mi Water Purifier.

Coming to the teasers, the official post says that the company has used anodized aluminium for the slim edges and frames and also for the base. The bezels look almost non-existent and the rear has a carbon fibre material. On the right corner, a “Designed by Xiaomi” engraving is visible.

The company has previously disclosed that the new TV lineup will come in three sizes – 43-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch. Now, it is unclear if all the three models will have 8K displays but given the teaser, we expect it to.

There’s still a lot we don’t know about the upcoming product, but we expect Xiaomi to toe the line of its previous 4K products in terms of display quality, software, and hardware. The move comes as a number of other smartphone makers are planning their foray into the segment, including Huawei with its premium lineup and Honor, as well as OnePlus. Xiaomi has been the early entrant in this field and already has a good track record with its aggressively priced offerings. It remains to be seen how Xiaomi prices the new 8K Mi TV.
