Xiaomi teases the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite Android One phones for July 24th launch event

Xiaomi recently announced that it will be introducing its next Android One series smartphone at a global product launch event on July 24th in Madrid, Spain. Ahead of the launch, the brand has started teasing the upcoming device. Today, the company has confirmed that it will be launching not just one, but two Android One smartphones at the event.

In a teaser on Twitter, Xiaomi said that “We are giving you ALL not 1 but 2 smartphones on July 24th! Any guesses? #2isbetterthan1”. While the company hasn’t revealed the name of the devices to be unveiled at the event, they are widely expected to be the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite. Notably, the Mi A2 Lite is already available to buy on AliExpress in two RAM and storage configurations, which start at around Rs 13,000.

As per the reports, the Xiaomi Mi A2 will feature a 5.99-inch full HD+ 2.5D curved glass display, and will boot stock version of Android Oreo. The phone is said to be fuelled by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor. The RAM and storage configurations are expected to include 4GB + 64GB, 6GB + 64GB, and 6GB + 128GB. The camera features could include a dual 12MP + 20MP camera setup at the rear, and a 20MP front shooter.

Talking about the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite, the listing on AliExpress suggests that the phone could offer a smaller 5.84-inch display with a resolution of 2,280 x 1,080 pixels. The phone is expected to be fuelled by a Snapdragon 625 SoC, and come in 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB RAM and storage variants. The camera features are said to include a dual 12MP + 5MP rear camera setup, and a 5MP front snapper. The other specs could include stock Android Oreo experience, 4G LTE, and a massive 4,000mAh battery.

AliExpress is selling the 3GB RAM variant of the Mi A2 Lite at around Rs 13,000, while the 4GB model is being offered for approx. 14,400. Sadly, there’s no word regarding the pricing of the Mi A2 at the moment. We should have more details in the coming days, so stay tuned.
