OPPO today unveiled the first look of ColorOS 16, the next-generation version of its mobile operating system, set to debut with the upcoming Find X9 series. OPPO has also teased a global event for ColorOS 16, but it hasn’t revealed the date yet. The update promises a major leap in smoothness, intelligence, and cross-platform connectivity. It also brings the latest Android 16 version onboard.

ColorOS 16 brings Seamless Animation, which is designed to make every interaction feel instantaneous and connected across the entire operating system. It’s said to create a fluid experience across various actions like opening and closing apps from the Home Screen, App Drawer, or Global Search. Animations now start from the point of touch and return in OPPO’s native apps.

ColorOS 16 also brings “Project Breeze” to entry-level devices, a dedicated optimisation feature for a smooth and more responsive experience.

The highlight of ColorOS 16 is the Flux Home Screen, which allows users to long-press and dynamically resize folders or app icons into tall, wide, or large shapes. The surrounding layout automatically adapts in real time, enhanced by the Luminous Rendering Engine for fluid visual transitions.

AI continues to take center stage in photography and video editing in ColorOS 16. The new AI Portrait Glow feature enhances low-light portraits by balancing tones and light in a single tap. It joins OPPO’s AI toolkit, which already includes AI Eraser, AI Unblur, and AI Reflection Remover. Meanwhile, the upgraded video editor, Master Cut, offers new tools such as trimming, speed control, filters, and manual adjustments for fine-tuned editing.

On the connectivity front, O+ Connect now extends support to both Mac and Windows PCs, allowing users to manage phone files, transfer data, or remotely control their computer from their phone. Screen Mirroring in ColorOS 16 adds even more flexibility, enabling users to cast up to five apps simultaneously and control them with a mouse and keyboard.

ColorOS 16 is claimed to provide smoother performance, smarter interaction, and stronger cross-device integration. The global rollout will begin with the OPPO Find X9 Series launching soon with the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset.
