Deedar-E-Yaar is a 1982 Bollywood romantic film, produced by Prasan Kapoor It stars Jeetendra, Rishi Kapoor, Rekha and Tina Munim in the lead roles. The story is about Childhood pals Javed and Akhtar find their friendship is put to the test when they fall in love with the same woman, Firdaus. However, her father insists that she marry the wealthy Akhtar.

Reena Roy appeared in an qawali song. Jeetendra had requested her and she agreed as they were friends and worked together in many films. Reena Roy was also in Jeetendra"s home production Pyaasa Sawan.
One of the biggest flops in the history of Bollywood. Jeetendra lost his life's savings producing the film.
Rishi Kapoor and Prasan Kapoor had a falling out during the making of the film. One day a foreigner visited the sets and asked Prasan Kapoor if he was the hero of the film. In those days many in the industry felt Prasan was even more handsome then his brother Jeetendra. Prasan jokingly told the lady if he became a hero in films,what would happen to people like him (pointing at Rishi Kapoor). Rishi heard the comment and took offense. Rishi stormed off the sets immediately.
Rekha co-operated very much during the making of this film and never created any problems for the makers of this film.
After 37 years of Deedar-E-Yaar release the film is very good now. It's one of the Classic. Jeetendra at that time had disown the film because it didn't do well. Similar thing had happened to Kaagaz Ke Phool 1959.
