Story
Orphaned Ravi Kumar lives in Poona, India, with his maternal uncle. As he wants to pursue a career as a singer/dancer, he re-locates to Bombay, so that he could audition for the All India Talent Association.

This film was director D. Rajendra Babu's remake of his own Kannada film "Naanu Nanna Hendthi" (1985). It was his first Hindi film.

Akki Pete Lakamma This song was adapted from a song in the Kannada film "Naanu Nanna Hendthi" (1985) of which this film was a remake. The original song was composed by Shankar - Ganesh, sung by S.P. Balasubramaniam and Vani Jayaram, and had lyrics by Hamsalekha.

The tune at 0:29 and 0:53 of the song "Saare Shaher Mein" from Main Balwaan, was later reused again the film Pyaar Karke Dekho. At 1:45/1:50 of the song "Its My Challenge", the same tune/rhythm of the song can be heard. Only in Pyar Karke Dekho the lyrics are in English.
