TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

For scheduling conflicts Shia LaBeouf dropped off the project, Nicolas Cage who is a close friend of Paul Schrader recommended Tye Sheridan to play Cirk as they previously collaborated on Joe (2013).

Because the film's budget was so low, there were really only one or two takes for each scene. Oscar Isaac found this be both challenging and very refreshing.

Filming was stopped by the producers on March 16, 2020, with five days remaining, after an actor who had flown in from Los Angeles for a few scenes tested positive for COVID-19. Director Paul Schrader was furious, calling the producers "pussified" in a Facebook post, and said that he would have "shot through hellfire rain" to finish filming.

Although he initially ranted about it on Facebook, Paul Schrader found the imposed two month break due to Covid-19 protocols turned out to be quite useful as he was able to tweak the edit.

This a truly independent film, every one who gave money got an exec producer credit. At a 20 E.P. credits in opting credit reel it is a Hollywood record.

Popular Dialogues

"William Tell: He beat you. Cirk: That's in the past. William Tell: The body remembers. It stores it all."

"[End scenes] Gordo: So I'm to blame? That's a pussified defense, PFC Tillich, and you know it. Gordo: We are each responsible for our own actions. William Tell: I believe that. William Tell: We are going to go into the next room, you and I... And we are going to have a dramatic reenactment. William Tell: Only one of us will come out alive. I'm going to make things right."
