Apple Music adds Discovery Station
- Discovery Station is a new space on Apple Music station that will play songs based on your listening history.
- First spotted by 9to5Mac, the Discovery Station will play songs that are not in your library but from artists you listen to or similar genres.
- It’s different than (your name) station that plays a mixed collection of songs from your library and ones that aren’t a part of it. That’s they key difference between the two.
- You can find Discovery Station on the Apple Music app under the ‘Listen Now’ tab. Here, you might have to scroll a bit through ‘Top Picks’ to find the Discovery Station. It’s also located just next to your station.
- Also, these aren’t playlists so you don’t have a fixed list of songs. It’s a radio station so there’s endless music playback and tracks.
Apple Music vs Spotify
If we compare to what its rival Spotify offers, this might be a better choice since it’s a radio station. Spotify is all about playlists, and it offers something similar called ‘Discover Weekly’ that refreshes every week with new songs based on your listening history. Spotify also has a ‘Made For You’ section where it curates and shuffles multiple playlists based on the genres and artists you listen.
Apple Music and Spotify are both available in India. While Apple Music is more optimised for iPhones, it’s available on Android as well. Here’s a look at the subscription plans and benefits of both the music streaming services.
