India’s tablet PC market in 2023: Apple leads

  • Based on the latest data from market research firm Cybermedia Research (CMR), Apple emerged as the top tablet brand in India, capturing a market share of 25 percent.
  • Meanwhile, South Korean tech giant Samsung closely followed in second place with a market share of 23 percent.
  • The overall tablet market experienced a 14 percent decline in 2023 compared to the previous year.

As per the report, it seems that the increased demand for tablets seen during the post-COVID-19 pandemic period has tapered off, following a period where remote work and study necessitated their use at home.

India’s tablet market in Q4 2023

  • Apple retained its top position in the tablet market during the fourth quarter of 2023, commanding a 25 percent market share, fuelled by popular products.
  • Lenovo secured the second position with a 24 percent market share, while its Tab M10 and Tab M9 models performed notably well, capturing significant shares in the value segment.
  • Samsung ranked third with a 19 percent market share, driven by strong demand for its Tab A7 Lite and Galaxy Tab S6 Lite models.

The report highlights that the market experienced a substantial 21 percent quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) growth in the fourth quarter of 2023, primarily fueled by the increasing demand for 5G tablets.

Shipments of 5G tablets surged by 43 percent year-on-year (YoY), capturing a notable portion of the market share. Additionally, Wi-Fi tablets exhibited strong performance, with a 13 percent YoY increase and comprising 52 percent of total shipments.
