iPhone 12 software update
iPhone 12 sales were suspended in France after certain tests found that it exceeded radiation levels. Apple refuted these allegations but it’s still going to release a software update for the iPhone 12 in France, Reuters reported. These tests were conducted separately, and are reportedly different than the ones generally carried out to check the safety of mobile phones.
EU countries concerned about iPhone 12’s radiation levels
The issue has led to concerns in other European countries as well. Apple has been asked to issue a software update for the iPhone 12 for all EU countries, the report added. The request has come from authorities in Belgium, and Italy. Germany and the Netherlands are also actively investigating, and looking for a solution as well.
What exactly the software update will do is unaware but it will be aimed solely at fixing the iPhone 12’s radiation issue. Apple has also reportedly asked employees to not say anything when asked about the iPhone 12’s radiation levels. It has also directed employees to reiterate Apple’s safety checks that all products go through before going on sale.
iPhone 12 discontinued
This issue came into light shortly after Apple discontinued the iPhone 12. This means that Apple will no longer manufacture the device. It will however be available until stocks last, and existing iPhone 12 users will continue to get software support for years. While this may have happened at the right time, Apple still has to deal with the existing iPhone 12 consumers in France, and possibly the entire EU as well.
