Flipkart customer receives fake iPhone

Going into the story, Ajay Rajawat had purchased the latest iPhone 15 on Flipkart during the Republic Day sale, which kicked on January 13th and lasted until January 19th. Flipkart has delivered the product on January 15th. However, on opening the box, the user was greeted with a defective iPhone 15-piece and the box packaging was also fake, as per him.

Ajay has also posted an unboxing video on X (formerly Twitter) and the box package was opened by the delivery person under the ‘Open Box delivery’.

The user has posted screenshots of the Battery section, which doesn’t show the battery health percent or the maximum capacity. There’s a message, which reads “Unable to verify this iPhone has a genuine Apple battery. Health information not available for this battery.”

Flipkart acknowledged the issue

Flipkart acknowledged the issue and offered complete help. The post said, “My deepest apologies for your experience with the order. You can count on us to resolve your concern. Please share your order ID with us through a private chat for the privacy of your Flipkart account. Please do not respond to fake social media handles impersonating our brand to safeguard your interactions.”

However, in a subsequent tweet, Rajawat claims that Flipkart is not offering any replacement or refund for the same. According to him, the e-commerce platform has asked him to visit the brand store and seek help.

Flipkart policy

Do note that Flipkart policy only offers 7 Days of Service Center Replacement/Repair. The policy reads, “Brand assistance for device-related issues is subject to brand warranty guidelines and service policies. Please reach out to the nearest brand-authorised service centre for more details. Note that Flipkart is an online marketplace and the final decision on the replacement/repair of defective devices rests with the seller/brand.” Returns for missing items, damaged products, or wrong products will not be accepted if it is an open-box delivery order. This could be why Flipkart refused to replace the device or offer a refund.

This isn’t the first time such incidents have happened with Flipkart. Back in October, a customer purchased a chimney from Flipkart but claims to have received the product in pieces and completely damaged.
