OPPO is due to refresh its mid-range Reno lineup in India and globally soon and we have news that things could be a little different this time. Industry sources tell 91mobiles that the company is gearing up to launch the Reno15 Pro Mini, marking the first time OPPO introduces a compact phone in the Reno series. The move comes at a time when smaller, easy-to-grip smartphones are making a comeback in the market.
Exclusive information given to us by industry sources reveals that the OPPO Reno15 Pro Mini will prioritise compactness without compromising on the premium design feel the lineup is known to carry. The smartphone will come with a 6.32-inch AMOLED screen, putting it in the compact category by present day standards. It is expected to weigh 187 gms, have a thickness of 7.99 mm, and come with skinny bezels measuring 1.6 mm.
Further, the Reno15 Pro Mini is expected to come in a Glacier White colour option, which will sport a ribbon design. This design will be unique to the white Reno15 Pro Mini model. The phone will have a glass back, in line with the premium feel of the Reno lineup. OPPO is known for experimenting with design finishes in the Reno series.
In terms of durability, the phone will come with support for IP66, IP67 and IP69, indicating high-grade dust and water resistance.
Earlier reports had indicated that the name of the compact phone of the series would be OPPO Reno15 Mini, but later leaks suggested the vanilla Reno15 could be the compact model itself. However, this clears things up a bit. The OPPO Reno15 series has already been unveiled in China, comprising the standard Reno15 and Reno15 Pro models. The devices include AMOLED screens, large batteries, and enhanced camera setups, continuing the Reno series’ emphasis on design and camera capabilities. It is also worth pointing out that there was no Pro Mini unveiled in China, hinting that OPPO Reno15 Pro Mini could be designed for a limited number of countries.
Further specifications of the Reno15 Pro Mini are unknown. However, based on past leaks, we know that OPPO may take a region-specific approach with the series and could launch the Reno15 globally with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset. This differs from the Chinese Reno15, which uses the MediaTek Dimensity 8450 processor. Further information includes a battery capacity of 6,500 mAh and support for 80W wired charging. A triple rear camera setup, including a 50MP telephoto lens, is being speculated for one of the models in the series. A 91mobiles Hindi report had said the series might debut in India in December.
OPPO’s decision to introduce a compact Reno phone aligns with a broader industry shift toward smaller, more ergonomic form factors. After years of phones becoming bulkier and screen sizes increasing, several brands are now returning to smaller phones. Models such as the OnePlus 13s, Vivo X200 Pro Mini and this year’s Vivo X300 have shown a renewed interest in compact flagships.
