Flipkart is gearing up for the festive season with one of its biggest sales of the year, the Big Billion Days sale. Ahead of the sale, the e-commerce giant has announced a new ‘price lock’ feature that will let consumers pre-book a deal so that they can avail it once the sale starts. Interestingly, Amazon had announced a similar feature last year during its festive sale.
Flipkart Big Billion Days sale: price lock feature
- With the new price lock feature, consumers will essentially be able to lock any limited-time deal on Flipkart by paying a small fee. The amount of the fee is not clear.
- Then later once the sale is live, consumers will be able to claim that deal and purchase the product with the discount as shown before. This way there’s no risk of the stock getting over or the deal becoming unavailable.
- The idea behind this feature is for people to get the deal that they want since these limited-time offers usually end up getting sold out. So instead of rushing to grab that deal, one can simply claim it beforehand.
- Flipkart hasn’t announced the launch date for its price lock feature but it’s expected to debut around the time the festive sales begin.
This year too, Flipkart is slated to host the Big Billion Days sale in October where it will be offering massive discounts and offers on various products across categories. You can expect deals on popular products especially smartphones and other electronics.
The announcement was made by Flipkart’s chief product and technology officer Jeyandaran Venugopal, who also added that the e-commerce platform plans to enhance its loyalty programme as well. Just last month, Flipkart announced its ‘Plus Premium’ membership which is an upgraded version of its loyalty programme. You get all the benefits of Flipkart Plus along with a couple more exclusive ones.
The new Flipkart Plus Premium membership can be availed by customers with over eight transactions in 12 months. Through this membership, you will have access to exclusive deals on top branded products, and earn four percent SuperCoins (up to 300) on transactions from your purchases.
