Gadar 2, the sequel to the 2001 Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel-starrer Gadar, was a resounding success at the box office post its release in August. Even though the film enjoyed over a six-week run in theatres in most regions, those of you who missed it can now watch the film as we have a prospective Gadar 2 OTT release date.
Gadar 2 is expected to release on October 6th on Zee5, as per a report by OTTPlay. The original Gadar is already streaming on Zee5, in case you want to watch that before you get onto the sequel.
While the platform hasn’t confirmed officially when the film will release, it has already started teasing clips, hence confirming that Gadar 2 will indeed stream on Zee5.
Gadar 2 cast, plot, sequel
Gadar 2 brings back Sunny Deol as Tara Singh, while Ameesha Patel plays Sakina, his wife. Utkarsh Sharma also reprises his role as Charanjeet or Jeete, Tara and Sakina’s son. Utkarsh is the son of Anil Sharma, the director of Gadar 2. Actor Shatrughan Sinha’s son Luv Sinha also stars in Gadar 2 as Farid.
Besides the cast reprising their roles, famous songs of the original Gadar have also been recreated by composer Mithoon.
In the movie, Sunny Deol as Tara Singh is settled happily with Sakina and Jeete in Punjab and works as a good supplier to the Indian Army. A skirmish breaks out with Pakistan and Tara is requested by an Army officer to help supply weapons to Indian soldiers. At the border, Tara is spotted by his former nemesis Hamid Iqbal, the Army General of Pakistan, who orders an explosion to capture Tara. The latter disappears and his son Jeete goes to Pakistan to find his father. Jeete is captured by the Pakistan forces and Tara resurfaces to rescue his son.
Gadar 2 ends with “To be continued…” thereby igniting speculation that there could be a Gadar 3. Sunny Deol has said that Gadar 3 would be made, but has not put a timeline to it.
