Magic Editor now available on Pixel 7, Pixel 6
- Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 6 users should start seeing the new Magic Editor feature on their devices, as confirmed by Tech Radar. Since the rollout has just started it might take some time to reach everyone.
- If you do own a Pixel 7 or Pixel 6, you can check by updating Google Photos to the latest version, and a pop-up for Magic Editor should appear in the Camera app.
- This feature was supposed to start rolling out on May 15th but it looks like it’s arriving only now. Nevertheless, it’s good that older Pixels are also getting access to these premium AI features.

How does Magic Editor work?
As mentioned above, Magic Editor uses AI to make complex edits to your photos. It’s not as simple as adding a bokeh effect or brightening the image; you can change many aspects of your photo to get the perfect shot.
Magic Editor lets you reposition the subject by moving them to the best spot in the photo. Repositioning isn’t as simple as just moving the subject around. One example Google gave is of a kid sitting on a bench and how you can add more to the bench so the subject is placed in the correct spot. So it’s more complex than just shifting objects. You can also make the sky brighter and less cloudy, and remove objects from photos.
Google announced last month that Magic Editor will be available to all Google Photos users on Android and iOS. This is however limited to only 10 Magic Editor saves per month. If you want more edits then you’ll need a Pixel device or a Premium Google One plan (2TB and above). But the feature hasn’t arrived on non-Pixel devices yet.
