Google Pixel 8 has finally launched in global markets. The lineup includes two models: the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. The phones come as successors to the Pixel 7 from last year and bring the new Tensor G3 chipset and camera improvements. The phones will also be available in India from later this month exclusively via Flipkart.

Pixel 8 vs Pixel 8: Price in India
- Google Pixel 8 India price is Rs 75,999 for the 8GB/128GB model and Rs 82,999 for the 8GB/256GB version. Flipkart is offering Rs 8,000 bank discount and Rs 3,000 additional off on exchange, bringing the effective price of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro to Rs 64,999. The deliveries of the phone will start from October 14th
- The Pixel 7 is priced at Rs 59,999 for the single 128GB version but will be available at Rs 36,499 during the upcoming Flipkart Big Billion Days sale.

Pixel 8 vs Pixel 7: Design
- Pixel 8 and Pixel 7 share an almost identical design.
- We see symmetrical bezels all around the screen and a centre-positioned punch-hole cutout for the selfie shooter.
- The corners on the Pixel 8 are slightly more rounded in comparison to the Pixel 7 and this offers better grips on hands.
- The volume rocker and power buttons are on the right edge on both phones.
- The SIM tray slot is on the left panel, while the speaker vents and a USB Type-C port are at the bottom.
- On the back, you see a horizontal strap on both phones and this houses dual camera sensors and an LED flash.
- The back panel is made of glass, while the frame is aluminium.
Pixel 8 vs Pixel 7: Display
- Pixel 8: The Pixel 8 has a 6.2-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, and 2,000 nits peak brightness. This one too has an Always-on display.
- Pixel 7: The Pixel 7 has a slightly larger 6.32-inch FHD+ AMOLED display but with just a 90Hz refresh rate. The phone offers up to 1400 nits brightness and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection.

- Pixel 8: The Pixel 8 is powered by the same Tensor G3 chipset with a Titan M2 security microprocessor. The chipset is paired with 8GB LPDDR5X RAM and 128GB and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage options.

Key takeaways
The Pixel 8 is by all means a true flagship offering from Google. The company is promising seven years of software support, which paired with proper optimisation offers a seamless user experience. The Tensor G3 should also have performance improvements over its predecessor, the Tenso G2. Google talked highly about its camera prowess during the launch event should mean the cameras will be top-class and uncompromised. The 120Hz AMOLED display will offer a seamless viewing experience be it for content consumption or gaming.
However, the Pixel 8’s price in India seems to be on the costlier side especially when compared to the launch price of the Pixel 7 last year i.e. Rs 59,999. If you think the price is justified for what the Pixel 8 brings to the table, it is undoubtedly the best Google phone this year but for the rest, we advise you to wait for a few months for the price to drop.
