Google rolls out new iPhone-to-Android migration tool for Pixel and Samsung Galaxy Z phones

Highlights

Google has rolled out a new native migration experience in Android 17 that makes switching from iPhone to Android much easier. The update lets users move more data wirelessly, including photos, videos, contacts, messages, calendar entries, Google Account details, passwords, Wi-Fi credentials and even eSIM data, without needing a separate app.

The new transfer flow is built directly into Android 17, which means users can start moving their data during setup with fewer steps. Google in its official blog says the experience has already started rolling out to select Pixel devices and will also come to the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 series.

This upgrade is is a good step because switching phones has often been one of the biggest friction points for users leaving iPhone. By adding support for more critical data types, Google is making Android feel far more complete and far less intimidating for users considering a switch to Android.
