New iOS 17.4 battery information page
After the iOS 17.4 update, the iOS Battery Health page on the iPhone 15 series shows the following:
- Cycle Count: It tells you the number of times you have used your iPhone fully to 100%. We said “used” and not “charged” since one count includes both charging and discharging. So, if you charge the device from 0 to 75%, the time you charge the remaining 25%, only then the iPhone considers it as full 100% charging. Now, similarly, if you use 35% of the capacity, the time the iPhone finds you have used the remaining 65% juice, it considers the full discharge has taken place. Together, that means one full cycle count. You can refer to Apple’s explanation here.
- Manufacture Date: It shows the date when the iPhone battery was made.
- First Use: It tells when the iPhone battery or the iPhone was first used.
Lithium-ion batteries don’t diminish by a noticeable percentage but do degrade if you don’t use them. So, if you find the iPhone battery was manufactured way before when it was first used, you know it could have lost capacity while it was sitting idle.
