iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max specifications

The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max introduce a new front design, with a pill-shaped notch that houses only the Face ID components and front-facing camera. Proximity and other sensors now sit behind the screen. The notch can seamlessly blend with the screen using animation, which Apple likes to call a ‘dynamic island’. “When you receive an alert, the dynamic island expands to notify you,” per the company. Apple also demonstrated a variety of ways Dynamic Island will animate and work based on notifications. The iPhone 14 Pro sports a 6.1-inch display, while the Pro Max packs a 6.7-inch screen. Both these panels support a peak brightness of 1600 nits – 2,000 nits on certain videos and HDR with Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG.

Additionally, iPhone 14 Pros now have an Always-on display for a quick glance at the time/ date, timer, reminders, and notifications without waking up the entire screen. The display supports the same ProMotion 120Hz refresh rate as last year, which the company claims can drop down to 1Hz to save some battery. Apart from this, the handsets offer a high contrast ratio, a Wide colour gamut, and 460 PPI.

Moving on, the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max both are powered by the A16 Bionic chipset, which is forged using the 4nm manufacturing process and uses 6 core CPU, comprising two high-performance cores that allegedly consume 20 percent less power and four efficiency cores that Apple claims use 1/3rd the power of competitor chips.

In optics, the iPhone 14 Pro models sport triple rear cameras with a 48MP quad-pixel primary sensor – for the first time in an iPhone. This is paired with a new 12MP ultra-wide sensor and a 12MP telephoto lens for zoomed-up shots. Apple claims that the new 48MP primary sensor has up to two times improvements to low-light photography. The sensor will take 12MP binned photos to maximize light capture and is said to deliver true 2x zoom at a 48mm focal length. You can also shoot ProRAW 48-megapixel photos from the sensor.

Additionally, the ultra-wide sensor on the iPhone 14 Pros has also been improved to offer better macro images and 3x improvement in low light. The LED flash has also been upgraded. It is now said to be twice as bright and react to the focal length of images. Apart from this, the cinematic mode on iPhone 14 Pro models can do 4k recording at 30fps and 24fps. Up front, the handsets sport a new TrueDepth camera with autofocus and f/1.9 aperture that enables better low-light performance for photos and video.

iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max both are rated to have all-day battery life. Apple claims 29 hours of battery life for the Max and 23 hours for the iPhone 14 Pro. The handsets can be charged MagSafe, as every iPhone has since the 12 series, along with the lightning port. The devices also come with emergency SOS via satellite service as well as crash detection, and face ID, much like the non-pro models.
