"Apple has admitted that some Smart Battery Cases made for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR are experiencing charging issues"
Although Apple does not have a great reputation when it comes to admitting quality issues with its products when user complaints surface, the brand has now gone ahead and announced a smart battery case replacement program for iPhone XS, XS Max and XR users that have been impacted by charging issues plaguing these smart cases. Apple says that the impacted battery cases might face one of the following or both these issues:
However, Apple does point out that this is not a safety issue as such and authorised Apple service provider will replace the eligible battery cases free of charge. As per the company, the impacted battery cases were manufactured between January 2019 and October 2019. It is important to note that only the battery cases for iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max are eligible to be replaced in this program.
The brand has also pointed out that this worldwide Apple program doesn't extend the standard warranty coverage of the Smart Battery Case and that the program "covers affected Smart Battery Case for 2 years after the first retail sale of the unit." For what it is worth, Apple claims that the impacted battery cases will be disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.
