There will be over 74 matches played during the 2023 Indian Premier League.
JioCinema, the digital streaming platform, has introduced a number of new technologies and enhancements in preparation for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.
Compared to the current streaming quality, which is HD, the new plan to stream the 16th season of IPL matches in 4K is a huge improvement. For the uninitiated, 4K resolution refers to Ultra-HD resolution, which is four times higher than Full HD (1080p) resolution.
Reliance is expected to show ads during the matches, like 10-second TV-style spots, to cover the costs. The platform also plans to stream the IPL in nearly 11 languages, which include English, Hindi, Bangla, Marathi, and Odia, among others. Users can also check scoreboards while watching matches with the app.
Meanwhile, Jio Cinema was the go-to app for watching the 2022 FIFA World Cup in India, and it was available for free on mobile devices and some smart TVs. Over 110 million people watched it, with 40 billion minutes of watch time across Jio Cinema and Sports18. However, the initial few days of FIFA WC streaming were ridden with complaints about the feed lagging and the Jio Cinema app crashing.
