iQOO 8 will have a variable refresh rate display
According to a tipster from China (via GizmoChina), the iQOO 8 will feature an LTPO panel with 10-bit colour, 2K resolution (QHD+), and a 120Hz refresh rate. Interestingly, the tipster also claims that the display will have a variable refresh rate where the screen can run adjust the refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz depending upon the content that is being displayed. The tipster has also posted an official teaser image of the iQOO 8, which says that the display of the phone will have true to life colours.
A display with a high refresh rate (90Hz or 120Hz) consumes significantly more power compared to a screen with a standard refresh rate (60Hz), which takes a severe toll on the battery life of a smartphone. This is where the display with a variable refresh rate proves beneficial. It drops the refresh rate whenever possible for lower power consumption. Considering that the iQOO 7 offered a decent battery backup even with its fixed high refresh rate screen, we can expect the iQOO 8 to offer an even better battery backup with its variable refresh rate display.
iQOO 8 will pack a 4,500mAh battery
Another tipster from China, Digital Chat Station, sheds some light on the battery capacity of the iQOO 8. According to the tipster, the IQOO 8 will have a 4,500mAH battery. DCS also claims that the phone will have a 120W charging speed, which contradicts the previous reports claiming that the iQOO 8 will have a 160W charging speed. Hopefully, we will get clarity about the matter when iQOO showcases the smartphone at the ChinaJoy conference.
According to previous reports, the iQOO 8 will be the first smartphone to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus SoC. A leaked screenshot suggests that the phone will have 12GB RAM, 256GB storage, and the Android 11 operating system.
