MediaTek MT9602 for smart TVs announced; Motorola to launch new smart TVs with chipset soon

MediaTek MT9602 chipset for premium smart TVs was announced on Thursday. The chipset supports up to 4K HDR display and is claimed to have been designed to deliver real-time video optimisation with improved picture and audio quality, thanks to the support of MediaTek AI-PQ (picture quality) and AI-AQ (audio quality), HDMI 2.1a, global HDR, and AV1 and AVS2 decoders. Flipkart has announced that it will be unveiling a range of new Motorola smart TVs powered by the MediaTek MT9602 SoC in India on October 9th. These are said to be India’s first smart TVs to be powered by the Android 10 platform as well.

The MediaTek MT9602 is equipped with AI voice technology and up to four directional microphones, which will allow OEMs to integrate voice assistants for hands-free voice control and other home IoT integration. It has support for Dolby Atmos surround sound, Dolby Vision HDR, dual-band Wi-Fi, and an efficient Response Time Compensation Engine which helps reduce blurs. The MediaTek MT9602 is a quad-core chipset with Mali-G52 MC1 GPU, a 60Hz refresh rate, and up to 2GB memory.
