Nothing has officially announced the Nothing Phone (2a) will launch in India and globally on March 5th at 5 PM IST. The company has also shared a video, giving us our first look at the device and confirmed that it’ll be cheaper than the Phone (1). The smartphone features a redesigned camera module compared to the Nothing Phone (2) and some toned-down features. Here’s everything revealed regarding the Nothing Phone (2a).
Nothing Phone (2a) price hinted, other details revealed
- Carl Pei shares that Nothing intends to “shake the market up” in terms of design with polycarbonate back panels, which look like glass in recent smartphones.
- At a point in the video, the anchor asks Carl how they’ve made the Phone 2a cheaper than Phone (1), to which Carl says, “Are we saying in this video it’s cheaper?” For context, the Phone (1) launched at Rs 32,999 and currently retails at around Rs 28,000.
- Chris Weightman, the industrial designer working on the Nothing Phone (2a), confirms that transparency will still be at the forefront of the upcoming smartphone.
- The Glyph LED back will also be an integral part of the design, but it will be slightly reworked to differ from the design of the Phone (2).
- The smartphone design will draw inspiration from famous Italian designer Massimo Vignelli, known for designing the New York subway map.
- Unfortunately, there were no glimpses of the smartphone till the end of the video when we see Carl holding it, but it’s blurred out. Chris does share some design sketches that could serve as inspiration for the overall smartphone design.
Nothing Phone 2a specifications (expected)
- Display: The Nothing Phone (2a) is likely to feature a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
- Processor: The MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset is likely to power the smartphone.
- RAM and Storage: The smartphone will likely offer 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage options.
- Cameras: The smartphone might feature a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL S5KGN9 primary camera, a 50MP ISOCELL JN1 ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 32MP Sony IMX615 front camera for selfies.
- Software: Nothing Phone (2a) is likely to operate on NothingOS 2.5 based on Android 14 out-of-the-box.
- Battery: A 4,290mAh battery with 45W fast charging support might power the Phone (2a).
- Colours: The Nothing Phone (2a) could come in Black and White colours.
