OnePlus is releasing a new model in its Ace lineup that’s limited to its home country, China. The new device will come with some major hardware upgrades, however. Here’s what we know about the upcoming phone.

OnePlus Ace 2 Pro launch date

The OnePlus Ace 2 Pro will make its debut on August 16th in China. The brand has started taking reservations for the device and will provide a gift box and personalised engraving to early buyers. A pop-up store will be set up in various cities in the country for experiencing the device and buying it.

OnePlus Ace 2 Pro specifications, expected price

OnePlus has confirmed various specifications of the upcoming device through teasers on its official store and its Weibo account. The OnePlus Ace 2 Pro will feature a massive 24GB LPDDR5X RAM module, making it the first from the company to come with this capacity. A 1TB UFS 4.0 storage option will also be provided. A notable upgrade is the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor which will be coupled with a new cooling system.

OnePlus has confirmed that the device will come with upgraded antenna modules and WiFi 7 for better gaming performance and connectivity. In terms of camera, the brand is bringing back Sony’s 50MP IMX890 sensor and has confirmed that ProXDR tech and OPPO’s imaging engine will be powering the module. A 5,000mAh battery can be fast charged to 100% using 150W SUPERVOOC technology in just 17 minutes

In terms of pricing, the phone could cost upward of RMB 3,499 which would set it right between the OnePlus Ace and the OnePlus 11 in China. When converted, this figure translates to about Rs 40,000 and above. If this device does make it to other global markets, we expect the pricing to be decently higher than this.

  • Display: 6.74-inch 1.5K OLED, 1600-nits peak brightness, 2160Hz PWM
  • Processor: Snapdragon 8 Gen 2
  • Primary camera: 50MP Sony IMX890 with OIS + 8MP ultra-wide + 2MP
  • Front camera: 16MP

There are no indications of a global launch yet, so the device may not come to India after all. However, there’s a possibility of the upcoming OnePlus 12R of borrowing hardware from this device. The major upgrade in OnePlus’ upcoming flagship OnePlus 12 will be the inclusion of a periscope camera and 24GB RAM, while the overall design may not be different after all.
