OnePlus is launching its first foldable phone soon in the global markets. The phone was earlier expected to be named the OnePlus V Fold but new reports have tipped that the OnePlus Open moniker has been finalised for the upcoming device.

The brand teased the release of the phone publicly during the OnePlus 11 launch event and confirmed a Q3 2023 launch. As per a new leak, the OnePlus Open will be unveiled next month, on August 29th. Reliable tipster Max Jambor also corroborated the leaked launch date in a recent tweet. The global event is expected to be held in New York. However, we still do not know how soon this new device will be available for sale.

OnePlus Open foldable specifications (expected)

Display: 6.3-inch AMOLED Cover screen with 120Hz refresh rate other screen, 7.8-inch foldable AMOLED with a 2K resolution and the same high refresh rate.
Processor: OnePlus Open will house a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.
RAM and Storage: The phone is expected to be available with up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
Battery: 4,800mAh battery pack.
Fast charging: Support for up to 67W fast wired charging.
Main Camera: 48MP main+ 48MP ultra-wide+ 64MP telephoto triple camera setup.
Front Camera: The device will feature a 32MP front camera sensor in the punch-hole on the cover screen and a 20MP sensor on the inside.
Software: OxygenOS 13.1 with Android 13 is expected to power the OnePlus Open.

We do not have any pricing details on the OnePlus Open yet but it should undercut the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 following the brand’s usual tradition of aggressive pricing. OnePlus revealed its new Nord series of smartphones earlier this month and is not expected to end its cycle of phone launches this year with OnePlus Open. The OnePlus 12 is expected to make its way to the brand’s home country, China, in December with a slightly refreshed design and a periscope camera.
