After some reports claimed that OPPO and OnePlus are bidding farewell to some European and UK markets over high business costs, OPPO and OnePlus have come out with a statement denying the reports. According to a report by TechAdvisor, OnePlus said it maintains stable operations in local markets, while OPPO said it is dedicated to participating in the current European markets.

OPPO, OnePlus deny exiting European markets

After several tipsters and media reports indicated that OPPO and OnePlus might take an exit from the European and the UK market, James Paterson, Global PR Manager of OnePlus, clarified to the publication via a statement that the company has strongly denied rumours that it will leave Europe and the UK. OnePlus said it would continue to invest in Europe and give its users more innovative products and services.

“OnePlus will not exit from Europe and the UK and maintains stable operations in local markets. OnePlus will continue to invest in Europe and provide more innovative products and solutions for its users.”

In the meantime, an OPPO representative said that the company got off to a great start this year with several successful product launches in Europe and that they have more products coming out for the rest of the year. “OPPO is committed to all the existing European markets,” an OPPO spokesperson told Tech Advisor via email.

It should be noted that the company launched the global variant of the OPPO Find N2 Flip in London on February 15th and also participated at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023, which took place in Barcelona, Spain.

The speculations started after a report from 36 Krypton, a Chinese publication, mentioned that OPPO plans to wrap up its business from Germany and the UK. Citing sources, the report stated that OPPO is leaving Europe due to the high business costs.

Last year, OPPO and OnePlus stopped selling smartphones in Germany after Nokia sued them for using its patented technology for processing 4G and 5G signals without paying for a license. Nokia won an injunction in a German court to stop OPPO and OnePlus’ sales in the country.
