OPPO has started revealing key details about the upcoming Reno 16 series ahead of its official launch in China on May 25th. The lineup, expected to include the standard OPPO Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro, appears to focus heavily on camera upgrades, larger batteries, and premium design refinements. The Reno 16 series is also tipped to launch in India this July.
In the latest teaser shared by the company, OPPO confirmed that both smartphones will feature a triple rear camera setup led by a 200MP primary sensor. Here are the complete details.
OPPO Reno 16 series camera details
In addition to a 200MP primary camera, the Reno 16 series’ camera setup will also include a 50MP ultra-wide camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens, and a smart LED flash module. While the megapixel count remains identical across both devices, the underlying camera hardware may differ between models. Reports suggest the phones could use refined versions of the imaging sensors seen on the earlier Reno 15 and Reno 15 Pro. With a versatile camera setup, the Reno 16 series would compete with rivals like the Vivo X300 FE.

The Reno series has traditionally occupied a unique position in OPPO’s portfolio, sitting below the Find X flagship lineup while still emphasising camera features, sleek designs, and portrait photography. The Reno 16 series’ camera setup suggests OPPO is continuing to prioritise versatile photography.
OPPO is also introducing a new smartphone accessory called the Oppo Bubble Trendy Selfie Screen, set to debut with the Reno 16 series. It’s a customisable circular display designed to attach magnetically to the back of the phone. The Bubble Trendy Selfie Screen appears to function as a remote camera companion for OPPO smartphones. Once magnetically attached to the rear of the device, it lets users capture selfies using the phone’s rear camera setup while displaying a live preview on its round screen. This accessory may likely remain exclusive to China.

OPPO Reno 16, Reno 16 Pro: what to expect
According to leaks and reports, the Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro will differ significantly in size and positioning. The standard Reno 16 is expected to feature a relatively compact 6.32-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It could be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8550 processor and backed by a 6,700mAh battery with 80W fast charging support.
Meanwhile, the Reno 16 Pro is tipped to arrive with a larger 6.78-inch OLED display offering the same resolution and refresh rate. Under the hood, it may feature the more powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chipset, alongside a larger 7,000mAh battery. The Pro model is also expected to support 50W wireless charging in addition to 80W wired charging, giving it a more premium flagship-like feature set.
The OPPO Reno 16 series seems appealing to users who prioritise portrait photography, zoom cameras, battery life, and premium design. The standard Reno 16 could particularly appeal to users who want a smaller phone without sacrificing flagship-style camera hardware. The Reno 16 Pro, meanwhile, appears aimed at users looking for a near-flagship experience without stepping into ultra-premium pricing territory.
It would still be better to wait for reviews to see what upgrades the Reno 16 series offers, especially for those who already own the Reno 15 lineup.
