Amid the rise of electric vehicles (EVs) in the country, Mumbai-based EV start-up PMV Electric has introduced a new electric car, more appropriately a quadricycle. The new PMV EaS-E EV is a nano-sized EV that comes with a quirky look, including circular headlamps, an LED light bar that spans the width of the car, and thin LED lamps. The electric car is touted as being the smallest electric vehicle in India with seating for two adults and at the most, one child.

The PMV EaS-E price in India is Rs 4.79 lakh (ex-showroom), which makes it the most affordable electric car in the segment, much cheaper than the Tata Tiago EV. Interested consumers have the option to pre-book the electric car just for Rs 2,000 from the PMV Electric website. The automaker said it has already received nearly 6,000 pre-orders for the PMV EaS-E.

PMV EaS-E electric car features

E Feet Free Mode

The EaS-E’s “E Feet Free Mode” is said to be its most intriguing and distinctive feature. It has steering-mounted controls to switch between speeds of up to 20 kmph so that your feet don’t leave the brake and accelerator pedals, in contrast to regular EVs and automatic automobiles that have a creep function to move ahead in slow-moving traffic.

More doors, fewer seats

When it comes to the number of seats and doors, the PMV EV has a twist in the story. There have been some small or compact electric vehicles with a two-door design and a four-seat configuration, but the EaS-E has four doors and only two seats. Also, its steering wheel is placed in the middle of the centre console. Furthermore, the middle of the centre console is where the steering wheel is located.

Remote for locking/unlocking

Even though the EV is an entry-level product priced under Rs 5 lakh, the automaker has packed it with several interesting technologies. The PMV EaS-E has remote features or telematics for the doors, windows, AC, and even the ability to turn on and off the headlights.

Remote parking assist

The presence of remote park assistance at this pricing point is another feature that is noteworthy. At this price, it’s the only vehicle in India that offers this convenience. The remote parking assists on the EaS-E, which is operated via the EV’s app on a smartphone, parks or moves the vehicle out of tight areas by going forward or backward in a straight line, as seen on premium cars.

Some familiar parts

The EaS-E includes various design elements that are similar to certain vehicles made by others. For instance, the PMV EV’s steering wheel and steering-mounted controls are similar to the third-generation Honda City and Jazz, respectively. Even the flap-style AC vents and the housings for the ORVM (outside rearview mirror) appear to have been influenced by Maruti vehicles like the Wagon R and Swift.

PMV Eas-E EV specifications

The Eas-E’s battery capacity hasn’t been revealed by PMV, although the company did note that the microcar includes a 48V lithium-iron-phosphate battery. The onboard charger, according to PMV, can charge the Eas-E using a 15A outlet in less than four hours.

By mid-2023, PMV hopes to begin shipping the Eas-E, which will be produced at the company’s Pune facility. A 3-year/50,000-kilometer warranty is also included with the vehicle.
