POCO M2 Android 11 update with MIUI 12.5 on top is now rolling out in India.

The Android 11 update for POCO M2 comes with firmware version V12.5.1.0.RJRINXM, as spotted by RootMyGalaxy. A close look at the changelog reveals that the device will get a performance boost. The POCO M2 will also respond to gestures quicker as MIUI 12.5 is lighter, faster, and more stable as compared to MIUI 12. The POCO M2 will also likely get the custom tuning done by Xiaomi specific to the device hardware making the overall experience snappier.
Looking deeper into native apps reveals new inclusions. Let's consider the Notes app, which now gets Dynamic layouts, doodling & sketching tools, gesture shortcuts, and Compose mind maps with complex structures. Some Android 11 improvements have also been passed on to the POCO M2 update with the likes of Chat Bubbles notifications, One Time Permission for Locations and Microphone, Permissions auto-reset, and much more.
Xiaomi will also be bringing the August 2021 security patch along with the Android 11 update for the POCO M2. This is commendable as security patches are equally important. Powering the device is an Helio G80 chipset from MediaTek with Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. The processor is paired with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and with up to 64GB of internal storage. Being a budget device, the POCO M2 comes with an expandable storage option of up to 512GB.
At the back, the POCO M2 gets a quad-camera set up which includes a 13MP primary, 8MP ultrawide, 5MP macro, and 2MP depth sensors. The front camera duties are handled by an 8MP shooter. The smartphone draws power from a 5000mAh battery and charges at 18W. The POCO M2 also ships with a fingerprint sensor, 4G capability, Bluetooth 5.0, a 3.5mm headphone jack as well an IR Blaster.
