- Sony has increased PS5 price in India just days after Microsoft increased Xbox Series X price in the country.
- Sony had previously hiked PS5 prices in several markets excluding India.
- Both PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition have got a price hike of Rs 5,000.
Sony has increased PS5 price in India for the first time since its launch. This isn’t really surprising as Sony has previously hiked PS5 prices in various markets across the globe including the UK, Canada, Japan, Australia, China, and others. The PS5 price hike in India comes just days after Microsoft increased Xbox Series X|S price for the third time in the country alongside some of the controllers and accessories. Sony has increased the price of both standard PS5 as well as PS5 Digital Edition.
PS5 price increased in India
- PS5 – Rs 54,990
- PS5 Digital Edition – Rs 44,990
The prices of PS5 accessories like DualSense controller, Pulse 3D headphones, DualSense Charging Station, and HD camera remain the same. Sony India hasn’t offered any official statement regarding the PS5 price hike. During the previous PS5 price hike that excluded India, Sony had said that it is increasing the prices due to “high global inflation rates, as well as adverse currency trends, impacting consumers and creating pressure on many industries.”
Sony launched PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition back in 2020. The only difference between these consoles is that the standard PS5 comes with a Blu-ray disc slot. The consoles are powered by an octa-core AMD CPU based on Zen 2 architecture. Besides these, the console has 16GB of GDDR6 RAM and 825GB internal storage. PS5 also supports expandable storage using compatible SSDs. Finally, the PS5 is backwards compatible with the PS4, allowing you to play PS4 games on the current-gen console.
