It isn't very surprising, considering the global semiconductor shortage. That, combined with the general scarcity of some other specialized parts, has resulted in limited production of several electronic components, gaming consoles included. It is also worth noting that demand is higher than before, so keeping up with it trickier. Interestingly enough, Sony has sold over 3.5 million PS5 consoles so far, and that number is likely to double before the year ends.
Of the 4.5 million consoles sold globally, a measly 4,000 of them were sold in India. Fresh PS5 stock is unlikely to arrive anytime soon. At this point, Sony has made it abundantly clear that it does not see the Indian market as lucrative. Microsoft, on the other hand, has done a good job of keeping Xbox Series S and Series X in stock, albeit in limited quantities. Furthermore, it has also implemented localised pricing for Game Pass, making it an excellent value addition to the console purchase.
