Redmi 9A India launch is on September 2nd; goes on sale two days later

After the Redmi 9, Xiaomi is set to launch the Redmi 9A in India on September 2nd. The first sale is on September 4th.

Redmi 9A India launch and sale dates have been revealed by the company. The sixth phone in the Redmi 9 series will go official in India on September 2nd and will go on sale for the first time on September 4th. The Redmi 9A will arrive just a few days after the launch of the Redmi 9. Xiaomi announced the Redmi 9 in India on Thursday and the phone comes with a MediaTek Helio G35 chipset, a fingerprint sensor, and a 5,000mAh battery. The Redmi 9A has already released in Malaysia, so we have a good idea about what we can expect from the Indian variant in terms of design and specifications.

Redmi 9A India variant will likely be similar to the model that was launched in Malaysia. Going by the teasers on Mi.com, the Redmi 9A will come with a waterdrop display, a large battery, strong performance, and decent cameras.

To recall, the Redmi 9A that is available in Malaysia comes with a 6.53-inch HD+ (1600×720) LCD display and is powered by the MediaTek Helio G25 chipset. The phone is offered with 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, but it will be interesting to see whether the Indian variant comes with a higher RAM and storage configuration.

The Redmi 9A gets a 13MP camera at the back and a 5MP selfie camera. The phone can hold two SIM cards and a microSD card. The entry-level phone does not feature a fingerprint sensor. The handset packs a 5,000mAh battery and runs on Android 10-based MIUI 11. 

Xiaomi will announce the Redmi 9A India price on September 2nd. The phone RM 359 (approx Rs 6,300) in Malaysia and we expect similar pricing in India. In terms of hierarchy, the Redmi 9A will slot below the Redmi 9.
