Redmi, a sub-brand of Xiaomi, has unveiled the RedmiBook Pro and RedmiBook E-Learning Edition laptops in India. This expands the company’s portfolio beyond smartphones, audio products, wearable, and smart TVs. While Xiaomi’s Mi laptops target the mid-range and premium segment, Redmi seems to be aiming to strike a balance between price to performance with the latest laptops. The RedmiBook Pro is the costlier model of the two, and it weighs 1.8kgs and measures just 19.9mm in thickness. The laptop ships with the Intel 11th gen Core i5 processor paired with Intel Iris Xe graphics. On the other hand, the RedmiBook E-Learning comes with Intel Core i3 and up to 512GB SSD storage.

RedmiBook Pro price in India is Rs 49,999 for the sole 8GB RAM and 512GB storage model. The company is offering a Rs 3,500 discount through HDFC Bank cards, thereby bringing down the price to Rs 46,499.

RedmiBook E-Learning Edition comes in two variants: the 8GB/256GB model is priced at Rs 41,999 and the 8GB/512GB option costs Rs 44,999. The company is offering a Rs 2500 discount through HDFC Bank cards, bringing down the respective prices to Rs 39,499 and Rs 42,499.

RedmiBook Pro and E-Learning edition will be available via Flipkart, Mi Home, and Mi.com websites and the first sale is on August 6th at 12pm.

RedmiBook Pro specifications

The RedmiBook Pro sports a 15.6-inch FHD display that offers narrow bezels. It is powered by the 11th generation Intel Core i5 processor with a max clock speed of 4.4GHz, Iris Xe graphics, 8GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM, and 512GB NVMe SSD storage. The laptop runs on Windows 10 Home OS out of the box and is bundled with MS Office Home and Student edition 2019. The company is claiming it can boot up in 13.3 seconds, reboot time of 20.34 seconds and 1.01 seconds wakeup time. The RedmiBook Pro is equipped with two 2W speakers with DTS audio and ports onboard include a 3.5mm audio jack, SD card slot, USB 2.0, LAN, HDMI, two USB 3.2 and charging ports. There’s Mi Smart to seamlessly share files between laptop and smartphone.

Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0. The RedmiBook Pro has a 46Whr battery and is claimed to last up to 10 hours on a single charge and comes with a 65W fast-charging adapter. It has a large 100 cm-square trackpad with Windows Precision drivers, a 720p webcam with two microphones and multi-touch support and the keyboard has a scissor mechanism with 1.5mm deep key travel.

RedmiBook E-Learning Edition specifications

RedmiBook E-Learning edition also has the same 15.6-inch display with FHD resolution. It is powered by the latest 11th generation Intel Core i3 processor with a max clock speed of 4.1GHz, paired with 8GB RAM. It comes in 256GB and 512GB SSD options. The laptop runs on Windows 10 Home OS out of the box with MS Office Home and Student Edition 2019. The laptop is claimed to offer 10 hours of battery life on a single charge. Going by the marketing name, Redmi will look to target the laptop at students who are attending online classes remotely owing to the Coronavirus pandemic. The laptop has a 1.5mm deep key travel and multi-touch supported trackpad. Both the RedmiBook Pro and RedmiBook E-Learning edition laptops will be upgraded to Windows 11 when it’s officially available.
