Samsung has announced the launch of the Galaxy M47 5G in India. The new smartphone will be part of the Galaxy M-series, which caters to the budget and mid-range lineup. The handset is also expected to succeed the Galaxy M36 5G from last year, as there’s no M37 model.

Samsung Galaxy M47 5G: what to expect

The official teaser includes an image of the Galaxy M47 5G, hinting at a notable design refresh for the M-series. The Galaxy M47 5G is shown in a deep crimson finish with metallic red accents around the camera rings and frame, giving it a more premium look than its predecessors. The phone also adopts a boxier design and appears to feature a side-mounted fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button.

Samsung says the device will offer faster performance, improved multitasking capabilities, and durability-focused features aimed at younger users. It will be sold through Amazon India and Samsung’s online store.

While Samsung has yet to confirm detailed specifications, reports suggest the Galaxy M47 5G will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. A recent Geekbench listing also points to Android 16-based One UI 8 out of the box. Storage expansion of up to 1TB via microSD card is also expected.

The Galaxy M47 5G is likely to compete in the crowded sub-Rs 25,000 segment, where it will face rivals from brands such as iQOO, Realme, and Motorola. Samsung’s advantage could come from its software experience, brand trust, and long-term update support, areas where the company traditionally performs well.

If you’re looking for a reliable mid-range smartphone with a customisable and smooth UI, long software support, the Galaxy M47 5G could be worth waiting for. However, buyers focused on gaming performance may want to compare it with competing options before making a decision.
