We finally have the nominations for the 2023 Game Awards. These awards not only recognise the gaming industry’s best games but also recognise the creators and developers who work on these games. In total, the 2023 Game Awards nominees span 112 different games, individuals, teams and events. The titles include multiple genres and platforms. These nominees are selected via a global jury of individuals that includes over 100 media publications and influencer outlets, including 91mobiles.

The Game of the Year nominees include the incredible Alan Wake 2 (review), Baldur’s Gate 3, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (review), Resident Evil 4 (review), Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Interestingly, no new IPs managed to make the list this year. Even so, we did see some incredible new IPs launch in 2023 including Hi-Fi Rush (review) and Hogwarts Legacy (review).

In terms of sheer numbers, Nintendo showcased its understanding of what gamers want by bagging 15 nominations. The most by any publisher. Sony Interactive Entertainment followed that with 13 nominations. Xbox/Bethesda/Blizzard and Epic Games followed up with 10 and 9 nominations respectively.

Best Audio Design

Best Mobile Game

  • Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis (Applibot)

  • Hello Kitty Island Adventure (Sunblink Entertainment)
  • Monster Hunter Now (Niantic)
  • Terra Nil (Free Lives)

The Game Awards: Where to watch

The Game Awards will be live-streamed on December 7, 2023, 7:30pm ET. This means those in India can watch it on December 8, 6:00am IST. The event will be streamed live on Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, X (formerly Twitter) and even TikTok Live.
