Uber India rolls out new features to prevent drivers from cancelling trips

Uber India might finally have a solution for the troublesome rider hailers who get cancelled on by their drivers. Uber India has decided to roll out an update that could potentially prevent users from getting cancelled on their driver by allowing the driver to see the drop location beforehand. Back in May, we at 91Mobiles covered this new update which was applicable to 20 cities at that moment and was an experimental strategy to check its effectiveness. Now, this feature is being rolled out country-wide and should solve a major challenge for the US-based cab aggregator.

Not just that, Uber India has also increased payments to drivers by 15 percent. Cab drivers many a time cancel trips after having asked the passenger their drop location. This issue dulls the experience, to say the least, but this might soon be a thing of the past, as has been proved to Uber in a pilot.

Increased payment for Uber drivers

Uber India has now started rolling out an update that will help users find the right driver when hailing a cab. The new feature that Uber has introduced will display the drop location to drivers in the near vicinity of the user's location and will allow drivers to accept or decline the trip request based on that. This is also part of a number of alterations that Uber India is implementing to ease the agonies of drivers and riders along with users to improve the overall experience.

"To enhance transparency and remove frustration for riders and drivers, drivers on the Uber platform across India will now be able to see the trip destination before they decide to accept the ride. Encouraged by the reduction in the number of trip cancellations after the pilot launch in May 2022, Uber has decided to do away with the trip acceptance threshold and rolled out the unconditional feature to all cities. Uber will continue monitoring feedback from drivers and riders and make changes if required," Uber said in a statement.

Uber India has also increased payments to drivers by 15 percent and has changed the payout cycle to all weekdays for drivers to receive online payment transfers. Drivers can now check if the user will pay online or via cash. Drivers will now on also be compensated if they have to travel a substantial distance to pick a user up.

There's more good news, and this one's for Uber Moto partners. Uber Moto users will now get push notifications in case of waiting charges. Operational charges for plying at airports will also be taken care of from now onwards at Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, and Bangalore Airports to ease out drivers.

By cushioning some crucial financial setbacks for drivers, Uber India aims to encourage drivers to cancel rides lesser than before. These new changes are expected to be implemented soon across all Indian cities where the cab service is currently available.
