WhatsApp redesign on Android, iOS
- WhatsApp shared a video on X highlighting the new design changes to its Android and iOS apps.
- The Android WhatsApp app has a cleaner layout with the top bar removed. This had one section each for chats, updates, and calls. All of that has been replaced by a search bar for Meta AI.
- You can still get filters for your chats by pulling down the screen. The colour has also been changed to a lighter green.
- On iOS, the change isn’t big with everything still in their respective places except for the Meta AI search now in focus. The major change here is the replacement of blue colour with green colour. It’s something iPhone users have been complaining about ever since the change started rolling out.
WhatsApp is also testing a new design-related feature that might be rolled out in a future update, according to details shared by WABetaInfo. The call bar is getting revamped with new buttons to end the call or mute your microphone. This way you don’t have to open the WhatsApp call screen to end the call. You can also leave the app and still end the call without having to go back to WhatsApp.
The current design on WhatsApp only shows that there is an ongoing call but you have to open the call screen for any action like ending the call, muting your microphone or switching to video/audio. This redesign is visible to some beta testers so if you’re on the WhatsApp beta programme you might see it.
