IMDbThis is the first American remake of a Soviet film, in this case The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath! (1976), a holiday cult classic.
Creators of the original film reacted negatively upon the production of this remake. Actress Liya Akhedzhakova called this project "bullshit" and didn't want to talk about it, and her castmate Valentina Talyzina said that the original film's events wouldn't be possible in the US because Americans don't have the same kind of problems people used to have in the Soviet Union. Also Olga Ryazanova, director/screenwriter Eldar Ryazanov's daughter, expressed doubts over remake.
When Margot(Emma Roberts),arrives late for the wedding, her mother and siblings notice that she is wearing boots. She eventually borrows a pair of dress heels from her cousin which don't fit her well;you can see her tripping and being unsteady on her feet as she walks down the isle with her father.Emma Roberts originally wanted to simply go in bare feet, but the idea was rejected by the director.
Titled "The Irony of Fate in Hollywood" for a Russian theatrical release, directly referring to the fact that the movie is an American remake of The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath! (1976).
After I Love NY (2015) this is the second remake of The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath! (1976), which was filmed and set outside of Russia or the former regions of the Soviet Union. Unlike the first remake, this one is actually an official one.
"Griffin Reed: Thanks for not calling the cops. Margot Hayes: Yeah, thank for not murdering me."
"Judy: Okay, girls, girls, girls! Enough. You're sisters. So, that means, by law, you are bound to pretend to love each other and be in each other's weddings. That's just how it goes. Okay?"
