TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

The occult black magic ritual at the climax of the film was filmed on Friday the 13th.

The tunnels and gun pit scenes were filmed at Wrights Hill Fortress in Wellington, a real semi-restored WW2 bunker.

Paul Campion re-mortgaged his house in New Zealand to finance the film. It was originally just going to be made with his money until the New Zealand Film Commission backed the film and provided additional funding.

When Colonel Meyer interrogates Grogan and talks about 'New Zealanders, a bunch of farmers driving around the deserts of North Africa attacking by night and fleeing to hide like cowards' he is referring to the New Zealand section of the Long Range Desert Group, a special forces unit that was originally formed from the New Zealand Army stationed in North Africa.

The German words stamped on the wall of the radio room are a warning: BEI GASGE FAHR ALLE ROTE KNOPFE ANDREHEN, which roughly translates in English to: "In case of gas danger tighten all the red valves".

Popular Dialogues

"Sergeant Joe Tane: There's bad shit going on here. Bad shit! Captain Ben Grogan: Bastards. Fucking Nazi bastards. Sergeant Joe Tane: No. That's not our war, that's not our fight. The gun, that's our mission. Captain Ben Grogan: Fuck the mission. Sergeant Joe Tane: Jesus Christ. We leave, now. We get out alive, we get back home. We get fucking medals for this. The girls will be falling all over us. Captain Ben Grogan: Give me ten minutes, Joe. Sergeant Joe Tane: Five."

"Col Klaus Meyer: She is a carnivore, a desecrator of human flesh. But she comes with a beautiful and familiar face, to confuse and deceive her victims. Captain Ben Grogan: And you summoned one?"
