Redmi Note 7S with 48-megapixel camera and Snapdragon 660 SoC launched in India: price, specifications

The Redmi Note 7 (review) has got a new sibling in India — the Redmi Note 7S. The changes can be summed up in just one field — 48-megapixel primary camera; in comparison, the standard Redmi Note 7 features a 12-megapixel main sensor. The new phone is powered by the same Snapdragon 660 SoC, features glass sandwich design, dot-notch display, and a beefy battery. Basically, the Redmi Note 7S is the India version of the Note 7 that was launched earlier this year in China.

The Redmi Note 7S price in India is set at Rs 10,999 for the entry-level 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant. The 4GB RAM + 64GB storage option will set you back to Rs 12,999. The handset comes in Onyx Black, Sapphire Blue, Ruby Red shades and goes for sale in the country starting from May 23rd via Mi.com, Mi Home stores, and Flipkart. The company says the new smartphone will be available via all offline stores, Mi Studios, Mi Stores, and Mi Preferred Partner stores “soon.”

Talking about the specifications, the Redmi Note 7S sports a 6.3-inch display with a notch up top, full-HD+ resolution, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The handset runs Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10 out of the box and features P2i splash-resistant coating and IR blaster. At its core lies a 2.2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 660 SoC, paired with up to 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB built-in storage, which is further expandable via a microSD card.

For photography, the Redmi Note 7S packs a combination of 48-megapixel Samsung GM1 + 5-megapixel sensors on the rear with LED flash, PDAF, EIS, and AI Portrait Mode. The front camera gets a 13-megapixel shooter for selfies and video calling. Other features include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, AI Face unlock, 4,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 4 tech, USB type-C port for charging, and hybrid Dual SIM support with 4G LTE. The Redmi Note 7S measures 159.2 × 75.2 × 8.1mm.
