Upcoming Apple products launching in 2023

Here’s a quick look at the new Apple products expected to launch in 2023:

iPhone 15 series

Every year, the iPhone is the most anticipated product from Apple. Millions of people look forward to what the next iPhone has to offer in terms of new features and improvements. With the iPhone 15 lineup being no different, Apple is said to reportedly bring USB Type-C on all the new iPhones, namely iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. This move will finally bring the iPhone in line with other Apple products such as the iPad and MacBooks which have been sporting USB-C charging ports for a while now. However, according to a report, Apple plans to make develop its own version of USB-C port that will be programmed to only accept Apple-made cables.

Another prominent change could be the introduction of Dynamic Island on the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus unlike the vanilla iPhone 14 which retained the notch. As for the optics, the iPhone 15 Pro Max may get a periscope lens for enhanced zoom capabilities while the other models may not see any prominent upgrades.

Coming to the performance side of things, both the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max may run on the yet-to-be-announced A17 chipset which is tipped to be built on a 3nm process by Apple’s long-term chip supplier, TSMC. On the other hand, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus may pack in Apple’s A16 Bionic which is the same SoC found on the iPhone 14 Pro.

Apple Watch Series 9

The Apple Watch is another product from Apple that receives yearly upgrades. Rumoured to come in the traditional 41mm and 45mm dials, the Watch Series 9 could reuse the same design from previous generations. With the 49mm Watch Ultra introduced alongside Series 8, it is unlikely the Watch Series 9 will be getting a new variant. Speaking of which, Apple could also bring an upgraded version of the Watch Ultra with improved specifications and even include new sensors for added functionalities.

When is the Apple Watch Series 9 launch expected?

The Apple Watch Series 9 along with the new Watch Ultra could launch alongside the iPhone 15 series sometime in September 2023.

For the time first time ever, the MacBook Air could come in a 15-inch variant. Just like the 13.6-inch MacBook Air launched in 2022, the 15-inch model could sport the M2 chip at its core but with a faster clock speed. Besides that, the MacBook may carry all the features from previous MacBook Air models.

When is the 15-inch MacBook Air launch expected?

The 15-inch MacBook Air could be unveiled in “early April” during Apple’s traditional spring event.

MacBook Air with M3

Apart from the 15-inch MacBook Air, Apple could also unveil the M3-based MacBook Air later this year. While the details regarding the screen size are rife, this particular MacBook Air may borrow the 13.6-inch MacBook Air’s display and design from 2022. According to the reports surfacing online, the M3 chip, which is based on TSMC’s 3nm fabrication process will supposedly offer 15 percent better performance and 30 percent more power efficiency than the M2 chip.

When is the MacBook Air with M3 launch expected?

The M3 MacBook Air is expected to launch by the end of 2023.

14-inch iPad Pro

Apple could end up launching a brand new variant of the iPad Pro with a 14-inch display. With the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro already rocking the M2 chipset, the new iPad may not witness major performance upgrades since it will be carrying the same chip. Furthermore, the iPad Pro could come with the same display technologies as seen on previous iPads such as a Liquid Retina XDR display and ProMotion for a smooth experience. Lastly, the 14-inch iPad Pro may be made available in both 5G and Wi-Fi variants.

The last iPad mini was launched in 2021 and since then Apple is yet to refresh the lineup. According to the reports, Apple is developing a new iPad mini that could come with an upgraded processor while retaining the same thin bezel design from the previous generation. The ‘upgraded processor’ here could be the A16 Bionic considering the current iPad mini is powered by the A15 Bionic. Apart from that, the display size, optics, and battery capacity are expected to be unchanged.

When is the iPad mini 7th generation launch expected?

The iPad mini 7th generation could make its debut in late 2023.

iMac, Reality Pro headset,

There are several additional products that could be on the horizon from Apple such as the long overdue iMac and Reality Pro AR-VR headset. Starting with the iMac, despite the introduction of the Mac Studio, there are rumours that a new iMac with an M3 chipset could make its debut by the end of 2023 or early 2024. But again, it’s unlikely a brand-new chip from Apple will make its first appearance on an iMac rather than on a MacBook. So until then, we’ll have to see how it pans out.

Coming to the Reality Pro headset, the device is likely to be unveiled at the company’s Spring event this year. Recent trademark filings have suggested something called “Reality Processor” which could be the name of the dedicated chipset Apple plans to use on the headsets. The device may cost a whopping $3,000 (around Rs 2.45 lakh) since it utilises more than 10 cameras, along with various sensors, and an M2 processor alongside the dedicated chip, according to a report by Bloomberg.
