Gionee M2 with quad-core CPU and 4,200mAh battery now available for Rs 11,123

The Gionee M2’s beefy 4,200mAh battery can also be used as a power bank for other devices. Gionee’s latest mid-range Android smartphone is now available to buy in the Indian market. Called the Gionee M2, it can be purchased on Snapdeal for Rs 11,123. It’s also listed on the vendor’s official website in the country, but no option to buy. The phone is equipped with a massive 4,200mAh battery, which can also be used as a power bank to charge other devices using a USB OTG cable.

Coming to the specs, the Gionee M2 offers an impressive design, solid build quality and a 5-inch capacitive display with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. The device is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz, further supported by 1GB RAM and a Mali 400 GPU. The OS in charge of handling user operations here is Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It’s offered with 4GB of storage expandable up to 32GB.

The photography department in the Gionee M2 is covered by an autofocus 8MP rear shooter paired with an LED flash, and a 2MP front-facing camera. The rear shooter is also equipped with various features like face detection, geo-tagging, touch focus, gesture shot, 99 burst shots, panorama and HD video recording. Connectivity options of the mid-range phone include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.

The Gionee M2 comes in black and white variants. With such a beefy battery in the M2, other smartphones in this price range hardly come close in terms of promised battery life. Last year, Lenovo offered a similar device with a 4,000mAh battery called the Lenovo P780, but it’s priced much higher at Rs 17,999.
