New Apple products expected to launch on September 12th: iPhone 15 series, Apple Watch 9 series, and more

Apple has scheduled the Wonderlust event for September 12th at 10:30 PM IST. This is expected to be the big event wherein we will get to witness the launch of a bunch of new products including the next-gen iPhones. Additionally, the company is expected to announce new iterations of its regular Apple Watch series, Apple Watch Ultra, and more. Here’s everything we know about Apple’s upcoming products that are launching this fall.

iPhone 15 and 15 Plus

  • Design: They are expected to be of the same dimensions as the predecessor. Even these standard iPhones could be getting the Dynamic Island. The back of all iPhones could be frosted glass as per one rumour. Additionally, there could be new colour options like Blue, Coral and a Green one with matching USB-C cables.
  • Cameras: This time around, the rear camera stack on the regular iPhones could also be led by a 48MP sensor. The sensor size may be smaller compared to the Pro models.  
  • Chipset: Apple could use the 4nm A16 Bionic chipset from the iPhone 14 Pro models on this year’s vanilla iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models. Although the company wouldn’t be revealing this anywhere, these iPhones are said to bring 6GB of RAM.
  • Battery: Internally, there could be space for bigger batteries viz. a 3,877mAh battery (18 percent larger) on the iPhone 15, and a 4,912mAh battery (13.6 percent larger) on the iPhone 15 Plus.
  • Other features: Among other things, these iPhones could feature a USB-C port (with USB-2.0 speeds), Wi-Fi 6 and enhanced Ultra-Wideband (UWB) standard (for better Vision Pro support).

iPhone 15 and 15 Plus price (expected)

iPhone 15 price could start at $749 (roughly Rs 61,832) and the iPhone 15 Plus price could start at $849 (roughly Rs 70,088). 

iPhone 15 Pro and Ultra/ Pro Max 

  • Design: iPhone 15 Pro models could have slimmer bezels and deeper curvier corners. These models could sport a new Titan Gray colour too and the build could be of Titanium.
  • Cameras: On the back, the main camera could be a 48-megapixel sensor but larger in size (almost 1-inch) compared to their regular counterparts. But all of these 48MP sensors are expected to deliver better low-light output. However, even bigger news on the camera front is the likely presence of a periscope lens on the iPhone 15 Pro Max (Ultra) with zooming capabilities up to 5x or 6x (or perhaps even 10x) distance. The Pro model, meanwhile, could have standard zoom support.

  • Chipset: The processor inside could be a new 3nm A17 Bionic SoC. This could be coupled with 8GB of RAM.
  • Battery: Internally, there could be space for bigger batteries viz. a 3,650mAh battery (14.1 percent larger) on the iPhone 15 Pro, and a 4,852mAh battery (10.9 percent larger) on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. This could be paired with a faster 35W wired charging and Qi2 Magsafe wireless charging support.
  • Connecitivity options: Moving to the connectivity side of things, the iPhone 15 Pro models could have a USB-C socket (with 40Gbps Thunderbolt speeds), the newer Wi-Fi 6E standard and improved UWB support.
  • Other features: The mute or the Ring/Silent switch on the Pro variants could be replaced with an Action Button. You could get to assign different functions, shortcuts, accessibility options, and apps to this button. 

iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max price (expected)

The iPhone 15 Pro price is expected to start at $1,099 (roughly Rs 90,726) and the iPhone 15 Pro Max price could start at $1,299 (roughly Rs 1,07,237).

Apple Watch 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2

  • Processor: The new watches could be powered by an S9 chip that’s based on the A15 Bionic SoC found on the iPhone 13 lineup.
  • Design: The Watch 9 could look very similar to its precursor and a rumoured new thing could be a pink strap. 
  • What about the Apple Watch Ultra 2: The Ultra 2, meanwhile, could be lighter on the wrist thanks to the use of 3D-printed components. It may also ship in a black titanium shade. There could be new bands like one made out of a woven fabric material along with a magnetic clasp buckle.
  • Price: The Apple Watch 9 and the Watch Ultra 2 could share the same starting prices as the Series 8 and Apple Watch Ultra respectively. To recall, the Apple Watch Series 8 (GPS) was launched in India with a starting price of Rs 45,900 for the 41mm variant and Rs 48,900 for the 45mm variant. The Series 8 GPS+Cellular model was available at Rs 55,900. The Apple Watch Ultra shipped with a sticker price of Rs 89,900.

AirPods Pro 2 (with USB-C)

The AirPods Pro 2 could refreshed and the major change could be its USB-C port to match the iPhone 15 lineup. That’s all the rumour we have heard about this. 

Apple September 12th event: What else?
