iPhone SE 2020 discontinued, India price remains unchanged following iPhone SE 3 launch

Highlights
  • Apple has launched the new iPhone SE 3 in India starting at Rs 43,900
  • The iPhone SE 2020 has been officially discontinued, but is still available online in India for Rs 29,999
  • iPhone SE 3 offers 5G connectivity and comes with the A15 Bionic chipset

The brand new iPhone SE 3 has been officially unveiled by Apple with 5G and the same design as the older iPhone SE. However, the phone is now more powerful with the latest A15 Bionic chipset (the same one powering the iPhone 13), and an improved rear camera. It is also more expensive than the outgoing iPhone SE 2020 model. Following the launch, Apple has officially discontinued the older SE model and it’s no longer available on the official Apple India website. However, the phone is still available from online resellers such as Flipkart, where its price remains unchanged despite the iPhone SE 3’s launch.

iPhone SE 2020 price in India

Although the iPhone SE 2020 has been officially discontinued by Apple in India, it is still available for purchase. You can head over to Flipkart if you want to buy the phone, but you’ll still end up paying Rs 29,999 for the base model with 64GB storage. We expected the prices for the iPhone SE 2020 to be slashed after iPhone SE 3 launch, but that doesn’t seem to be case right now. The 128GB variant is priced at Rs 34,999, whereas the 256GB version is Rs 44,999.

This makes the iPhone SE 2020 variant the cheapest iPhone available in India at the moment.

iPhone SE 3 price in India

The iPhone SE 3 base 64GB variant will be priced at Rs 43,900, which is a lot more expensive than the base iPhone SE 2020 model. Of course, you do get the latest Apple A15 Bionic chipset, 5G, and improved rear camera. The 128GB model is Rs 48,900, and the 256GB variant is Rs 58,900.

The iPhone SE 3 price in India is much higher than what we anticipated. We expected Apple to price its budget iPhone between Rs 30,000 and 40,000. That’s clearly not the case though, especially when you can purchase phones with bigger displays, batteries, more cameras, and 5G for around Rs 30,000.
