Leaks around the OnePlus 16 suggest the company may be gearing up for one of its most spec-heavy phones in years. The OnePlus 15 only launched in October, and the brand is still expected to roll out a smaller OnePlus 15T. But chatter from China already points to a more ambitious flagship in the making.
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the OnePlus 16 could feature a 200MP periscope telephoto camera. That would be a huge step up from the 50MP telephoto on the OnePlus 15. More interesting than the megapixel count is the claim of a much larger sensor, possibly around the 1/1.x-inch mark. If true, this would put OnePlus closer to the kind of zoom hardware seen on high-end Samsung and Vivo phones, where sensor size matters far more than numbers on a spec sheet.

The same leak also mentions OnePlus testing a 200Hz display. This feels more experimental than essential. The jump from 165Hz on the OnePlus 15 to 200Hz sounds impressive, but in everyday use, most apps and games still do not fully benefit from refresh rates that high. It is the kind of feature that looks great in marketing, but may not change how the phone feels day to day.
Battery life could be where the OnePlus 16 really stands out. Another tipster, Old Chen Air, claims the phone will use a 9,000mAh Glacier battery. For context, the OnePlus 15 already packs a large 7,300mAh unit. This is not a wild claim either, as OnePlus has already shipped 9,000mAh batteries in its Turbo series, showing the technology is ready.
Taken together, these leaks suggest a phone that prioritises power, endurance, and headline specs. That approach is similar to what brands like iQOO have been doing with their performance-focused flagships, targeting buyers who want maximum hardware for their money.
For now, it is worth treating all of this with caution as these are early leaks. Specs on paper do not always translate into better everyday experience. Buyers considering the OnePlus 15 or the upcoming 15T may still be better off waiting to see how these rumours evolve. If OnePlus really does deliver a 200MP periscope camera, 200Hz display, and a 9,000mAh battery in one phone, the OnePlus 16 could end up being one of the most talked-about flagships of its cycle.
